Driver's Education

Overview

Driver's Education is provided by Jordan Driving School and registration is now located on their website.  All classes are on a first-come, first serve basis with a max capacity of 50 students.  Students must be at least 14 and 1/2 years of age to be eligible to take the driver's education class.  

Step 1 (Registration): Complete the Registration Form at JDS Carolina Website (This form will automatically close once capacity is reached.) An email will be sent once class is closed. It is critical that the correct email is entered in this form in order to ensure that you receive communication regarding this course. Note: If the link is closed, check back for the next class registration cycle (usually open 30 days prior to the next class).

Step 2 (Payment): The course is $45.00 and must be paid prior to the start of the class.

  • Online payments are now available through SchoolCash Online.  A $2.00 convenience fee is added to this method, for a total of $47.00.   
  • Students in NBHS are encouraged to purchase this item under your list of items found under the student tab on SchoolCash.  If you have not registered for for an account, please do so HERE.
  • Existing NBHS SchoolCash Accounts should PAY HERE.
  • Non-NBHS Students should PAY HERE (Or if you are unable to located your NBHS Student account) *Please include student's first/last name and month of class on the line asking "who are you purchasing this for?"
  • Cash/check payments (exact amount of $45.00 please) should be made at the front office of NBHS; checks should be made payable to "NBHS". 
  • You may be eligible for a fee waiver if you qualify for free or reduced lunch status.  If so, please complete the CCS Fee Waiver Form and turn it in to the NBHS Front Office or email to the Bookkeeper at Charleen.Lukasiewicz@cravenk12.org.

Course Expectations

Students will meet with an instructor online every day during the time that the class is being offered. Students who sign up for this class will need to commit to a set day and time to meet with the instructor every day and to do the assigned work in a timely manner.  Time is listed in each course date. The state requires 30 hours for the classroom part of this course.

Students who completed the classroom portion at New Bern High last school year and have lost their Certificate of Completion can contact JDS Carolinas by calling (252) 244-1220 or go to their website JDSCAROLINAS.COM to email them (there is a $10 fee for replacement certificates)
