Hello, my name is Mr. Blanchard and I teach the adaptive transition class at New Bern High School. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Religion from Mount Olive University and a Master's Degree in Adaptive Curriculum from Western Carolina University. I served four years in the United States Navy on the USS Inchon. I was a Radioman and worked in communications. I like to say "Stay strong, positive, and never give up."

I am a 1995 graduate of Pembroke State University, now called the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. This is my 28th year of teaching. I have taught all grades, K-12. I enjoy being able to see the look on students’ faces when they learn a concept.  My family and I have been in New Bern for about 9 years, and love it here!

I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Secondary Social Studies  from Duquesne University, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1989. I taught first grade in Florida for three years before moving to North Carolina in 1996. As I was teaching middle school Exceptional Children, I received my certification in Mental Retardation from East Carolina University. I moved to New Bern High School in 2013 and received my Masters degree in Special Education in 2019 from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. This is my 31st year of teaching and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!
